TA is responsible for planning and providing the requirements of transport, roads & traffic in the Emirate of Dubai, and between Dubai and other Emirates of the UAE to provide an effective & an integrated transport system capable of achieving Dubai’s vision & serving the vital interests of the Emirate. With a vision of safe and smooth transport for all, Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is responsible for planning and executing transport and traffic projects in Dubai, preparing legislation and strategic plans, developing other integrated solutions of road system and marine network that are safe and in line with the city’s economic development plans and the highest international standards.

he RTA IT Team was finding it very difficult to monitor and control the private devices which eventually would be a threat to the organization. With BYOD adoption, even employees have been very concerned regarding with their own privacy being hampered and exposed to the employer. RTA recognized that an EMM solution like AirWatch is the simplest way to get business-critical data, email, applications and content on users’ smartphones, tablets and computers. Trust in an EMM solution is crucial for employees to utilize the software and gain access to the data needed for business transformation.

EMW, an Airwatch enterprise partner managed the end to end implementation of this project and is also working along with the RTA team to launch this program so that users can start using this technology without any hesitation. The phase 1 included deployment of 450+ user licenses onto the RTA premises and this project has provided access and choice to end users by providing full visibility and access to personal information via the AirWatch Self Service Portal, Displaying personal information being collected in a user-friendly HTML format during enrollment, Notifying users of policy changes as they are implemented and sending users additional, granular privacy notices for each app download. The solution is giving users complete control with the ability to delete data or opt out of the service. Up next, RTA plans to roll out this technology with several thousand devices and the organization also anticipates to broadening its offerings to include consumer services.
