Fairfax, VA — EMW is
presenting an invited paper at MILCOM 2004, the premier international military
communications conference sponsored by AFCEA and IEEE, being held at Monterey
from October 31 to November 3. The paper is being presented in the
Transformational Communications Network Operations and Management
category in the unclassified Network Design, Management, and Security
session.
EMW’s paper, Where Did I Put That Switch? Perspectives in
Asset Management, co-authored by Alan Fulton, Dave Gaul and Kamal
Raychaudhuri, is intended to elevate awareness of this important discipline, as
well as of EMW’s role as exponents in the art of Asset Management.
The
paper describes the requirements for asset management based on EMW’s experience
in operating and maintaining commercialized defense networks and other
medium-to-large enterprise environments. EMW’s experience is presented in the
context of AssetWise™, a system that EMW has developed to meet the specific
needs of these networks and environments. Real-world challenges and workarounds
are discussed in the paper, along with areas of future evolution.
